Branding & Visual Identity

Your brand is more than a logo. It's how people recognise and remember you. We create visual identities that are distinctive, consistent, and actually usable across everything you do.

When does branding work make sense?

Not every business needs a full rebrand. Here's when we typically get involved.

  • New businesses that need a professional identity from day one
  • Growing companies whose original logo and materials no longer reflect who they are
  • Mergers and acquisitions where multiple identities need to become one
  • Inconsistent brands where every piece of collateral looks different because there's no clear system
  • Digital launches where an offline brand needs to work online

What we create

Logo and mark

The centrepiece of your identity. We design logos that work at every size, from a favicon to a billboard, and in every context: colour, black and white, reversed out, on busy backgrounds. A good logo is recognisable in a split second and doesn't rely on colour alone.

Colour system

Primary colours, secondary palette, and clear guidance on when to use each. We specify colours precisely (Hex, RGB, CMYK, Pantone) so they're consistent whether on screen or in print. We also ensure there's enough contrast for accessibility.

Typography

Font choices for headings, body text, and any special use cases. We recommend typefaces that are commercially available (including affordable licenses), work well on web and in documents, and have good language support if you operate internationally.

Supporting elements

Icons, patterns, photography style, illustration guidelines. The elements that give your brand texture and flexibility. These let you create varied materials while maintaining a cohesive look.

Brand guidelines that actually get used

A brand identity is only as good as its implementation. We've seen too many expensive brand guidelines gather dust because they were impractical or unclear. Our guidelines are different.

Practical

Written for the people who will actually use them: your marketing team, agencies, freelancers.

Specific

Clear rules rather than vague principles. "Don't stretch the logo" is more useful than "respect the brand integrity".

Complete

Covers the situations you'll actually encounter, with examples of correct and incorrect usage.

We typically deliver guidelines as a PDF for easy sharing, plus source files and assets in the formats you need.

How branding projects work

01

Discovery

We learn about your business, audience, competitors, and aspirations. What makes you different? What associations do you want people to have? This shapes the creative direction.

02

Exploration

We develop multiple creative directions, typically 2-3 distinct approaches. These aren't just logo options. They're complete visual directions with different personalities.

03

Refinement

You choose a direction and we refine it. This is iterative: we present, you feedback, we adjust. The goal is a result you're genuinely excited about, not just acceptable.

04

Build-out

We extend the identity into a complete system: all logo variations, colour palette, typography, and any supporting elements. We also create templates or mockups for key applications.

05

Guidelines & handover

Final delivery includes the brand guidelines document, all logo files in required formats (vector, PNG, etc.), font files or license information, and any templates we've created.

Timeline and investment

Timeline

A typical brand identity project takes 6-10 weeks from kickoff to final delivery. This allows time for proper exploration and refinement. Rush jobs are possible but usually result in compromised outcomes. We'll be honest about what's realistic.

Investment

Branding is a significant investment. We work with your budget to create a brand identity that works for you. Complex projects or those with extensive application design can be significantly more. We'll give you a clear quote after understanding your needs.
